Happy New Year!

I am writing this "Happy New Year" post on February 7th. January was a crazy month! It was a month of sickness and busyness!
To start out our New Year's Eve. Jakob was sick so we ended up ordering in some dinner and watching a movie. We ended the night by playing a game and drinking some sparkling cider. Robert and I tried to make it until midnight, but didn't quite get there.
On New Year's Day Jakob was doing better so we went to Subway and went bowling. Emma has been begging to go bowling. She had a blast and even got a strike on her last turn!

The rest of January is a blur of sickness running through our house. December was the same. It seems that Emma had a harder time in December and Jakob has had a really hard time this month. I hosted Bunco, and tried to host a "31" party but Jakob ended up with pink eye in both eyes and a ear infection.

This was a Thursday. Went to the doctor, got meds. Then on Saturday morning he started fevering and fevered through the whole weekend. Monday we went to a doctor here in Rawlins who prescribed him different antibiotics. By Tuesday morning my poor Jakob was so sick of medicine, he hadn't been eating or drinking. He was SUPER congested. He was also getting lots of diarrhea from the antibiotics. I called his clinic in Laramie and they thought we better bring him in. He was spitting out his antibiotics or any other kind of medicine. I was also getting pretty worried about dehydration at this point. So that afternoon we made the trek over. He definitely needed fluids. We also decided to do antibiotic shots since the oral ones he wouldn't take and they were really hard on his tummy. My poor babe had an IV and two shots that night. His wonderful pediatric nurse practitioner stayed late so he could get the IV and fluids. They had to wrap his arm good so he would keep it straight. It was amazing the difference in him once he got the fluids. His skin looked better, he was more energetic and he even started drinking. His upper lip was so dry and swollen. Once he got the fluids his lip had already started to heal. The next two days we had to head back to Laramie so he could finish the next two rounds of antibiotic shots. It was a rough week but by Thursday we pretty much back to normal.

We had planned the weekend before to go see our friends, the Waltons, in Payson, Utah, go to the temple, and get Jakob's one year pictures taken. So we decided to do it the next weekend. Jakob was feeling better so we packed up and hit the road.

It was a great fun weekend. We spent time with good friends.  Robert and I were able to go to the Provo Temple. Emma had a blast playing with her friends, and we were able to get Jakob's pictures taken.
On the way home on Sunday Robert and I wanted to show Emma the Provo temple. I waited in the car with sleeping Jakob, but Robert took some cute pictures.

Love this one!

Here is a pic of my cute kids. Healthy and happy!

They sure love each other. They love to play together and give lots of hugs!
